The SufiPunk Lexicon
Each Arabic, Persian, or Urdu word becomes a shade of its meaning in English. Here we give light to its different shades so SufiPunk's mood is accessible to all.
A badass in every sense. Someone unafraid to look in the mirror and see the good and the painful. A counter-culture rogue. An angelic troublemaker. Someone interested in good trouble.
The world of the heart. Having your heart where your feet are. When we move from seeing from our minds to seeing from our hearts, we are automatically more compassionate, more loving, more giving, more abundant.
From Abida Parveen's song — letting go in surrender. Believing with certainty that whatever is ours will come to us by every means. Part of our mission is to convince our hearts that this is true.
Iqbal's provocation to elevate consciousness. Self-nourishment to the fullest extent — the better we are, the better the world is. Individualism's exact opposite: we are not separate from the world, but of the world.
Daughter of Time — always in the present moment. When we are fully in the present, we are not only aware and elevated, part of life's symphony: we are also directly in touch with our Lord.
The spinning wheel of the heavens — the wheel of time/destiny. When we submit to it, we recognize its power while understanding we are separate from it. Nothing can change God's decree (Qadr) except for Duaa.
True radical love. Divine Love. Both are one and the same — as Allah is the Truth. Loving the truth means seeing reality as reality and falsehood as falsehood. To live from such radical authenticity that even fear has no room to fester.
